A LISTEN TO DJ CHUS: As i've been getting back to DJ'n my dance roots I've been infected by DJ Chus's sound. I've been doing hiphop production and mixing for some time now and this dude has grabbed my ear (better yet yanked my ear) and made me feel like I needed to get back into feeling the floor shake and percussion smack you in the face. Hailing from Spain he started his professional DJ career in the late 80's, he then started producing records around 2002 which his buddy David Penn (also a great Producer/DJ) helped in the growing process by way of putting out Chus's first recordings on Penn's record label Zen Records and Urbana Recordings. Chus's style of production is percussive, tribal, with hard kicks (which make me want to break something), infectious rhythms and catchy melodic lines. I also like the fact his style also varies for the different artists he works with, providing a soundscape where he makes you feel the soul of the record. His record label "Stereo Productions" has been putting out some gems and everyone who loves dance music should check him out. You can find him at Pacha NYC as well as in Ibiza.
